Right Rapaire, it was New Guinea (Popua) and a remote highland tribe called Fore. My mistake saying Africa. They named the disease kuru. When I watched the documentary they were blaming it on enzymes but now reading further into it it does appear to be a form of CJD. Where it comes from is still the mystery, although it was mostly the women and children that got it from eating the brains of their dead relatives.
Dianavan- The connection with CJD and squirrels looks like it could be in the cattle feed that they eat but it's a hard call to make since CJD is animal transmitted.
