I'm not really a big fan of frames for most of the stuff I do. If I'm creating a document, there are other ways of placing objects that, for me, seem simpler and less trouble-prone. If you're preparing a form in which you want to force someone else to use your placement, they're one way to lock the placement in.

In a score writing program, they make some sense, if you need to force the location of more than one object to a common anchor point. The note, the lyric syllable, a chord "name", maybe a fret pic, all tied together to align with each other.

This may not be something you need to do in your program.
