I lost a friend this week too. Danny O'Connell was a terrific 24-year-old Ottawa Valley fiddle player who I had played a couple of gigs and a lot of sessions with. He took his own life on Monday, leaving a lot of very sad and bewildered family and friends. Funeral tomorrow. Still trying to get my head around this.   

The Thursday sessions where I met him last year (at a pub named, by sheer coincidence, Daniel O'Connell's) will never be the same.
