I agree with countess richard about the Australian Pop Band. I thought I was the only one who didn't like The Waifs. They are good at what they do, but what they do is rootsy pop. Is it a case of the Emperors new clothes?
Most of the 'clubs' which win the folk club award seem to have been concert type clubs. I assume that the artists asked are of a similar stature to those on the awards show, but these artists only play the bigger clubs, as these are the only ones that can afford them. Try asking the likes the John Kirkpatrick, Pete Morton, Pete Coe, Duncan McFarlane, Ronin Laing, Gordon Tyrell, Maggie Boyle etc. The likes of which visit clubs large & small.
