Just finished the first book in Philip Pullmans 'His dark materials' series and would highly recommend it. Anyone know why it has the alternative titles "Nothern Lights" and "The Golden Compass" btw? Going to start on "The Subtle Knife" tonight and can't wait:-)

My non-fiction nomination would go to Bill Bryson - and he is completely transatlantic, nay, Global! So it doesn't seem to matter where you are from. Informed, informing and funny to boot!
