The Creighton collection is the real deal. Goes to the source.
Two excellent recordings by some of the contemporary singers of traditional chanteys are:
Holdstock and MacLeod: "Deepwater Shanties" Louis Killen, Jeff Warner, Gerret Warner, Fud Benson: "Steady As She Goes"
These are both no frills singing by first rate interpreters of this music.
In my extremely humble, completely unbiased opinion, Radriano's aforermentioned CD "Time Ashore Is Over" is a winner...........alright, I'm on it........but it really is a good one, with some not too often heard material (and you'll know why). *BG*
