Thread Name: Tune Req: A dotted hornpipe
Subject: RE: Tune Req: A dotted hornpipe
Well, as someone who worked as Sam Sherry's accompanist and did a lot of research on Lancashire fiddle tunes, I reckon I can stick my neck out and offer advice. The dotted nature of the hornpipe(as has been pointed out) is irrelvant. it's how you play them. I would say the Lancaster Hornpipe(D) or the Sportsman's Hornpipe(Am or Gm) would be excellent. If searching on the net, dont be fobbed off with the Old Lancaster Hornpipe. That will be a 3/2 thingy. These are both good-going tunes with impeccable Lancastrian connections.
