The Bucks County Folk Song Society (my favorite group of folks) is doing the songs of the century next month, and I've been assigned to come up with a number from the forties. This struck me as a real promising candidate.

It always enhances a song if you can present the story behind it, and this is a fine story if ever I heard one. However, if anyone else has some additional info, I'd love to hear it.
