SRS guessed right. The National Education Association. The largest teachers union in the US. We were referred to as a terrorist organization by Bush's illustrious Secretary of Education Rod Paige last week when he was addressing the National Governors Association at the White House, no less.

Paige, who is African American, a former football coach, and teachers college dean, has never concealed his disdain for the NEA's opposition to Bush's "No Child Left Behind" bill. He has compared opponents of Bush's education law to segregationist Southerners who stood in schoolhouse doors to prevent black students from attending desegregated schools.

The union president, Reg Weaver, responded:

""It is morally repugnant to equate those who teach America's children with terrorists," Weaver said. "Yet this is the kind of rhetoric we have come to expect from this administration whenever one challenges its world view."

Paige said his statement was just a joke, of course. Bush backed him up 1000%.
