Thread Name: Tune Add: Walts Morris
Subject: Tune Add: a walts for St David's Day
Happy St David's Day, which I'm pretty sure is March 1st. David is the patron saint of Wales, and today I'm practicing Welsh music for a gig tomorrow.

I have sent Joe Offer a Welsh waltz called "Walts Morris." I think it's a pretty piece, once it gets started. I wrote the lower line myself. You can have it. I refuse to copywrite it.

The chords are
D D A7 A7 D Bm A7 A7
D D/G A7 A7 D A D D
D Bm Em Em A A D D
D A D A D Bm Bm A
A A A D G A D D

About those A7's - I find that when we are playing harp and guitar, it's enough dissonance if the harp plays the melody with the dissonant note and the guitar plays an A instead of an A7.

This tune came from a book called Cadw Twmpath, published by the Welsh Folk Dance Society. As the editor, Robin Huw Bowen wrote, "...for those who would wish to dissect the butterfly rather than watch it fly, the relevant information is available from the Society."

Here's hoping this works.
