I also agree with you on the love that crosses species. It is so unconditional and constant. I sometimes feel the love of my critters transcends all and is greater than that of any person whom I love or am loved by.

When I was a very young mother, I once wrote a little essay about how I longed to take my son to "the hills", away from civilisation and all its trials, to be raised among the animals. I was very serious and fervent in my desire. I had been hurt in love with his father and was so disillusioned by people at the time. The only ones I wanted to be aorund were my dear animal companions.
