MOAS:   Mother of all Sewers/Storm water drains
         Several flightless birds

New Zealand Summer 2003-4: Enough Storm water to pop all the manhole covers on the Mother of all Storm Water Drains resulting in resounding avalanche type roaring to cause sleep disturbance and unearth the resting place of the bones of extinct flightless birds.

Now I'm not saying that our storm has instigated the refreshing of this thread but there is an eerie connection...
