Mr. Happy, I do have a very old vinyl of a very young Jose Feliciano playing "Dueling Banjos" as a solo, on one guitar, no multitrack tricks.

Of course, I'm not Jose Feliciano, and I doubt your friend is either, but it has been done.

I think he plays "Flight of the Bumblebee" as a guitar solo on the same album.
