It tastes pretty good from our tap. As good as any bottled water I've tried. Maybe we're lucky - on holiday at times we've found the local tap water tastes vile, notably when we go to Sidmouth Festival. Perhaps it's just what you're used to, but they seem to sell an awful lot of bottled water in the shops there. Not that I drink much water at Sidmouth anyway.

There's a big laugh going around in England at present, because Coca Cola have launched a brand of bottled water, and it's leaked out that they make it in Peckham, in London, using tap water. Apparently they use some hi-tech system to take everything out of it but the water itself - but then, since it tastes pretty nasty when it's that pure, they have another hi-tech process to put stuff back into it to make it taste the way it did when it came out of the tap. Then they bottle it and sell it for a quid a bottle.

As they say, Coke is "the real thing" - in this case they are dead right... Real water, with a mark-up of a few thousand per cent.

Except they've shot themselves in the foot with this, and probably badly damaged the whole bottled water racket quite badly.

But surely, Mooh, there've always been the occasional dead deewr lying in streams. I suppose that normally there'd be penty of scavengers around to sort that out. Maybe your point is that they've been wiped out in some places.
