Yep, Rita has nailed it. If I tried to give a physical description, one might try and figure out why folks want to come so badly. But when one factors in the atmosphere, they find themselves wondering why anyone wouldn't come. This event has given me wonderful friends, almost indescribable experiences, exposure to types of music that I never thought possible, musical experiences that I will one day write about.

Mudcat is the virtual coming together of a worldwide community of folk musicians. The Getaway is one of, and the main one, physical manifestations of that virtual experience. I have yet to meet the person who has experienced it that wasn't changed by it.
