When I paste into Word, I always use the Edit/Paste Special option from the standard menu, and then select either "Unformatted Text" or "Unformatted Unicode Text." (I haven't figured out what the difference is; they seem to do the same thing.) That way I don't get any unwanted graphics or formatting.
