Jerry, just want to share this with you.

First, my maternal Grandfather was a carpenter by trade.

Day before yesterday, the family got together to celebrate my cousin Jenny's 35th birthday. Jenny is a special person. Shortly after she was born she contracted scarlet fever, and suffered brain damage. She was such a beautiful kid, and the family took it as such a tragedy. But the Greatest One had a lesson in mind with Jenny. She is such a love, and such a great person, that the family is constantly reminded in her life, that every person is a gift from The Greatest One. She brings us all joy, and in her simplicity, she brings such great wisdom to the clan. We all know that we are lucky to have her in our life.

Jenny always wants me to bring my guitar and sing for her. And when I do, she stands right beside me and sings right along. It is the only time she sings. And it is joyous to hear and be part of.

This year my Aunt (Jenny's Mom) asked if I would sing another song. I sang "Handful of Song". The opening line had no more than escaped my mouth, and the tears started to show. When I sang the rest of it, and folks just looked at Jenny, well, it was a magical moment. They all got the fact that life, no matter what it hands us, is precious and that every person is a gift. I had to go make copies of the lyrics because a number of folks wanted them.

You, Jerry, are a gift. I just thought you ought to know that your song touched many people that night, and had great meaning. I am your fan, sir, and I thank you for the gift.
