I just don't think the quick, brief, on-the-fly discourse style of the chat room is a very good mode for talking about weighty issues. If I want to say something about an important issue, I'll usually want to use a few more words than that little box in the chat room provides. I'll also want to edit it, proofread it, and send it through a spellchecker so I don't look like an idjit.
