Gee whillikers! Could Thetis and Kalypso be torch singers from Chicago?

You know, very few female folksingers have a breathy voice and sort of exude while hanging over the piano or microphone. And even fewer where dresses that are sprayed on, except for the decolletage. I wonder why that is?
