Charley Noble: Yes - I knew he was studying at San Diego ... and, even from this distance, we can't escape a fair bit of US geography ... but I thought I had read of some San Francisco shanty doings, en passant, so I thought he might be a worthwhile starting point. I'll follow up with the 'Catters you suggest.
