I hate boorish recitations of tedious truisms when people are trying to have fun with b.s. If you don't actually hate anybody it doesn't do any harm to say "who" you "hate"--I hate Michael Douglas, I hate Oliver Stone--unless you're just infatuated with the idea you don't hate anybody, then maybe you ought to keep rehearsing it.

I really enjoyed the bit about whatsername the critic. My favorite writer, Nabokov, has some excellently written hates. His poetry-war letters with Edmund Wilson are a lot of fun to read.
