If you found the pop-up blocker site from a popup, be very afraid. One of the "popular" scams is to offer to download a popup blocker that actually contains invasive spyware - as in keystroke logger - that you don't want on your machine. Quite a number of less nasty ones simply don't do anything except reset your security level in your browser, - something you can do for yourself, and will probably "unset" when you see how much it interferes with navigating the web.

I haven't added the Google blocker, but have heard good reports on it.
