I've heard of people photographing bracing patterns by putting a normal (low-wattage) light bulb inside the guitar, taping the hole over (or cutting a cardboard cover, anyway) to prevent light-leaks, then using a timed exposure with a standard camera ON THE OUTSIDE of the guitar. The braces show up as shadows.
