On an earlier thread I boasted that our community in Vancouver had led the way by keeping WalMart off Marine Drive.

Well, they're back! Seems they have a new proposal for city council. They are now offerring an all new, environmentally friendly, WalMart, complete with bicycle ammenities and pedestrian friendly features. I can only hope city council doesn't fall for it. Unfortunately, they already meet the current zoning bylaws.

I guess they just do not understand that we do not want our small community businesses to die. If WalMart goes in, it will destroy the core of our neighborhood. I know they have lower prices but how do put a price on a happy, thriving community? The benefits are too numerous to count.

I thought we were through with WalMart but their persistence is unbelievable. Look out!
