Thread Name: Tech: Wave Breaker for tapes to mp3
Subject: RE: Tech: Wave Breaker for tapes to mp3
I store an LP/8-Track/Cas on the hard drive as a complete
continuous file

sometimes i allow the entire 8-track tape
to be transferred to the HD and then separate
into individual tracks...

for instance for an LP:

Side A: [track 1/track 2/track 3/track 4/track 5/track 6/etc]

then I use one of several programs to SPLIT [COPY & SAVE]
the file into individual tracks, only takes a few minutes ...

using a built in program called Wave Studio on my computer,
or the wave editor in NERO COPY program
or one called GOLDWAVE [free trial download]
and there are others....probably equally as good...

......[begin song 1 - end song 1]....just hi-lite the bracketed
example and save to HD...

as a1/a2/a3/a4/a5/etc and b1/b2/b3/b4/b5 etc

i hand type the track info separately in .txt file

01 - song title 1.wav
02 - song title 2.wav
03 - song title 3.wav
04 - song title 4.wav
05 - song title 5.wav

and use split screen method to CUT & PAST the
.txt titles and replace the a1/a2/a3/a4/a5 dummy titles

works very well for me, and being able to type 60
WPM kinda helps out also...

a friend plays one song at a time into the computer and
TRIMS and TAGS individually but that is TOO tedious
and TIME consuming for me...i prefer the
WHOLE BALL OF WAX approach and use the programs
above to finish off the job...

that way I am not TIED to the RECORDING process...
and can do other things till the recording part
is complete..

just my way...may not be for everybody
