Or you could try the Life of Pi for weirdness,
The Da Vinci Code for bad writing, gripping story (how does he do that??)
Or do what I do under stress- go back and re read as many childhood favorites as you can find. I just finished The Secret Garden for the umpteenth time. Wrinkle in Time's next.
