What about the Welsh? Sorry but I do feel there is little point is listening to folk music sung in a language the listener can't understand as the poetry is a very important part of it. However in a Welsh club a couple of years ago we heard one of the best bluegrass groups I've listened too. If "English" means of the English speaking world then I think we are very fortunate in being able to fully appreciate the folk music of the British Isles, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand (Never heard any; please enlighten the ignorant!)whether it was exported from here or originated there. On the down side the English do have a problem of in general being reluctant to learn other languages. See the "Folkies are Back" thread for other names.
