Although it was "in conjunction with" the 27th Annual Dallas Guitar Show and Music Fest, I think the "Icons of 20th Century Music Auction" is pretty much fan mag stuff, hence the BS.
A very brief report in my local news rag (The Wichita Eagle) reports that at the auction Saturday (April 17, 2004):
Elton John's antique piano sold for $164,500.
Guitar owned by Kurt Cobain during his early days with Nirvana - $117,000.
John Lennon's 1975 "Grammy Presenters Medal" - $8,225.
Two dress shirts worn by Elvis Presley - $1,225 each.
