If there is reasonable tension on the head and the strings are well
wrapped round the peg AND fed through the hole in the peg the most likely cause is lack of tension on the pegs . Even OLD banjos had a screw to tighten the peg in the hole , unless its got solid Ivory pegs
If it was strings settling in it wouldnt keep happenenig after an hour or so.
