I'm with Leadfingers -- it sounds like the peg screws need to be tightened. Assuming, as we all appear to have, that we're talking about metal strings here. Nylon strings take a lot longer to settle in; and if your fella is using fishing line in lieu of actual nylon strings, then you and he are really going to learn the meaning of patience. Fishing line keeps stretching forever.
