Subject: RE: Musical Ettiquette 2:Guitar vs. voice
Regardless of the context lamarca...I get really pissed when people don't pay attention to the person that should be the focus. I know that we all may occasionally pass a quick word to your spouse or whatever, but I know exactly what you mean.......and oddly enough, it doesn't bother me when I'M the focus as much as it does when I'm part of the audience. And that gawddam noodling whether on a guitar at a circle or some sitting and knitting at a meeting just kills me.

Before someone goes off on me here, I know a lot of folks are auditory learners...I'm one myself. And I know that knitting is quiet and unobtrusive. I don't mind knittin' or pickin' or much else if we're just sitting around BSing, but in even the least formal context, it drives me nuts because to me, it's flat rude!!! And generally I sit and fume til I blow and make an ass of myself...well that ain't much of a stretch. But generally asking them to stop whatever does no good or offends them anyway, and I gave up on caring what other people think of me many moons ago.....matter of fact it was one of my Mom's preachings from birth.....Hmmm, no wonder I'm such an egocentric asshole!?!?!
