I have an old print of a Mouresca danced in spain where one line of dancers is dressed in white tabards with crosses and the other line is dressed as moors.

It was a stick dance and the music was all percussion. Not a malodorous odeon in sight.

Dancing in the street outside a Crusader chapel...

Probably got nothing to do with Morris dancing..
