Subject: RE: Marion's other busking tour
WHEW .....! Not only did I just read her most recent posting, I also just put her on the bus heading North for Canada. I've known lot's of folks with itchy feet, but I've NEVER met anyone like "Maid Marion." I'm tired just reading where she's been.
We did have a very nice few days with her. And as I told her, last night, her voice has matured in the few months since we've visited, but most of all ... her songs are simply WONDERUL!
This afternoon she sang me her new song about Washington state. She was guided by a vintage story of a true early pioneer. I've always been amazed, and in awe, of those magical persons that can put words on paper and can capture a tale. The thing that Marion is getting so good at, is her almost uncanny ability to capture the "feel" of the times. She has written some songs of vintage periods that you would swear must have come from those very persons who lived there and then.
She's right, we did take a bit of a drive up into the mountains on Monday. I did have to check on a job, but I did NOT spend five minutes there.IT WAS SEVEN MINUTES! As we traveled along, I'd point out various mountain peaks, and rivers, and tell stories about the settling of these areas. I noticed that she was very quiet during this time, but I now know that she was taking it all in with a crystal clear memory. That's one of the reasons that she can write such good material.
So, here's wishing her good traveling. She's always welcome at our home, and she knows that. CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson
