The recent photographs of the abused Iraqi prisoners has brought to light a very real problem in our digital world. I am not saying that those photographs were doctored but many have been alluding to the possibility.
There is an interesting website about Irish Folk Musicians by Jim Maginn and he first alerted me to the dangers of digitally enhanced photographs when I accused him of doing just that. He is advocating for the inclusion of a small symbol which denotes digital enhancement. This, of course, is to ensure that the public is not misled and would go far toward protecting the integrity of photojournalism.
Lets face it, with todays technology, can you be sure that the pictures you are seeing are an acurate rendition of the event?
