We'll be gone this weekend (Friday until Monday) -- our annual Mother's Day weekend escape to the world of singing and music and good friends and good conversation. We'll be driven to and from, Mort will be boarded at the vet's and all we'll have to do is sing, listen to music, etcet etcet.

But until Friday we're confirming appointments, dropping off paperwork, seeing Visiting Nurses. Tom finally got his handicapped parking placard today after two trips to Motor Vehicles and a trip to one of his other doctors in the middle. Tom submitted the form for signature on April 12th -- his regular doctor's office lost it several times, couldn't find it when I went in to inquire, said they'd again look for it when I called again, yesterday when we were at the office they claimed it had been mailed and we'd definitely have it today. At noon it wasn't in the post office box. When I got out to Motor Vehicles, discovered that the photocopy they had given us ("just in case") didn't include the part with the doctor's signature. (Arghh!!!) Tried to explain it to the nice lady at Motor Vehicles -- who said nothin' doin' without signature from the doc, but she at least called the office. In the middle of all this, the associate from one of his cardiac doctors walked in to renew her license or register her car or something, saw the hassle, and filled out and signed the form for Tom. But they rejected it because she was a P.A. not an M.D. So . . . back in the car to drive to her office, get the office manager to fill out the form, stamp it with the doctor's signature stamp, etc. Back to Motor Vehicles. (Well, it's only about five miles . . .) Finally got the thing, temporary, good til October. I think there's a couple strands of hair I didn't pull out.

By the way, l checked the PO box just before 5 this afternoon and the original form from the original doctor still wasn't there.

Friday and the weekend is coming . . .
