I think you missed the point about July and August. I don't get paid! It is not vacation time. It is a system designed for parents and kids - not the teachers. Many teachers work at other jobs in July and August. Teachers have nothing to say about the length of the school year.

You also missed the point about working conditions. You create your own working conditions. Public sector employees need the union to speak to management about their working conditions. Without them, we would have no say at all. Since it is the public (in my situation, children) that endure the same conditions, don't you think someone should be speaking up? Or do you want to leave all of that up to the government?
