Thread Name: New Welsh Trad. Summer School
Subject: New Welsh Trad. Summer School
There's a new summer school being held from 1 – 4 July in Dinas Mawddwy (which is north of Aberystwyth, between Machynlleth and Dolgellau). It's set up to develop skills in trad. Welsh music, and also music of Brittany and Euskal Herria (The Basque Country). Welsh tutors will be Ceri Rhys Matthews (pipes, et al.) and Cass Meurig (fiddle, crwth). Dom Duff will be over from Brittany and Saioa Eseberria from the Basque Country. Apart from music tuition, there are also lecture/demos on Welsh dance/clogging and poetry. The whole thing finishes up on the Sunday night with a concert/twmpath.
It starts at 5.30 p.m. on the Thursday and the course fee is £75 (£60 for full-time students) which does not include accomodation or food. More information is available from Meic Llewelyn, 01650 511 778.
