Spaw,I agree with you, cords would have been a little gauche. Dinner wear would be a little over the top, however. When last in Chicago by train, The Lakeshore Limited, I found my Oshkosh B'Gosh bibs to be just the ticket when worn with my Arrow shirt, Ralph Lauren tie, Pendleton jacket, elbow patches intact. For a lid, I chose my navy-blue K-Rugged engineer's cap. A high shine on my oxblood brogues and I was set for the trip.
So few people these days appreciate the importance of proper travel attire.
