Stoupes Cross is on the Abbey Plain beyond the road which goes up from the East side to the Abbey. It is a bit of a walk plus the 199 steps thrown in. If you are in town it is possible to get a taxi back to the site.
The other camp site is on the West side heading out towards Sandsend. Once again not that close to town. It is closer to the Spa and Metropole if you are intending to finish your evenings thereabouts.
The festival also organises its own camping, but I'm not sure what the arrangements or locations for them will be.
