The version I learned at school (whatever happened to education since then?) was essentially the same as the one quoted by Brakn earlier in the thread, the main diference being we sang "Cartright Hall", which was a local museum, and the location of the missing item. I'll not quibble about a couple of minor variations in the precise wording.
