Well, I'll tell you the truth. You know how in the last chapter of Travels With Charlie, Steinbeck wrote that his trip suddenly left him and he made a hasty retreat home? I understand that bit now. Once I had left the states and made my way from Vancouver to the Ottawa Valley, I suddenly found that my wanderlust had abandoned me and that I feel like I've had enough of this. Is settlelust a word? -- my thoughts have turned to what I want to do when I have a home again, and I've started making inquiries about a place to rent.

Having said that, I have another six weeks left on my bus pass, and I certainly don't see myself just throwing it away. So I guess I'll carry on, go through the motions, and see if I get my enthusiasm back. But I'd just as soon not.

Maybe all this means is that I'm finally qualified to write a depressing road song...
