Also, "The Man Who Wasn't There", with Billy Bob Thornton, directed by the Coen Brothers, in the tradition of the best film noir of the 30's and 40's, in black and white. I have no idea why this one didn't get into mainstream theaters, except for the fact that it was in B&W. Thornton is one of the best actors around.

Just a thought, but for those of us who hate using French phrases, (they sound too pompous), what's a good alternative for "film noir"?
