Thread Name: Lyr/Chords Req: Short White Blues (Eric Bogle)
Subject: Lyr Add: SHORT WHITE BLUES (Eric Bogle)
OK, here are the lyrics, somebody else will have to help with the chords. Since I'm six foot four and sing in a bass-baritone voice, I never got too interested in performing it. But I did meet Eric once when I opened for him in Anchorage and we shared a laugh regarding this song.

SHORT WHITE BLUES by Eric Bogle

I was born back in the forties, a bouncin' baby boy,
My mama's future heartbreak, and my daddy's short-lived joy,
Born with all my bits and pieces, I seemed to be alright,
Only one thing wrong, I was too short and too white.

Oh, I got them short white blues,
Yes I got them short white blues,
I'm never ever ever ever ever gonna lose,
Them too short, too white blues.

Cause ever since I can remember, I yearned to sing the blues,
In a voice that rose like thunder from the soles of my shoes,
But in his wisdom God thought that he knew better,
Gave the voice I was supposed to have to Huddy Ledbetter.

Oh, I got them short white blues,
Yes I got them short white blues,
I'm never ever ever ever ever gonna lose,
Them too short, too white blues.

Now I've got a talent for song fabricatin',
And a singing voice that sounds like canaries copulatin',
I'm a walkin' illustration of one of life's cruel tricks,
Instead of being tall and black, I'm white and five foot six.

Oh, I got them too short blues,
Yes I got them short white blues,
Got the rhythm and soul of a dead kangaroo,

(Chant) Or a Swiss waiter who works in a small hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva, who reads Harold Robbins novels translated into Swiss and who breeds goldfish and who plays the kazoo

        I got them too short,
Oh I got them too short,
Yes I got them short white blues.
