Thread Name: Lyr Req: Moving Away (Johnson / Johnson / Cormier)
Subject: Lyr. Req: My Best Friend Is Moving Away
I listen regularly to a radio station that plays 24 hour non-stop folk music on the web. The site is www.radionewfoundland.net Besides old traditional Sea Music, Celtic, & Irish favorites, they have a lot of modern day folk sung by local artists. Much of it deals with the deteriorating economic conditions due to the depletion of the local fishing grounds. Consequently, people are moving from Newfoundland to other parts of Canada, and many of the songs reflect this theme. One such song is sung by a young girl lamenting the fact that her next door neighbors are moving. It is called " My Best Friend Is Moving Away". I only heard it once and remember a line from the chorus. It goes " I live by the ocean I play in the sand, I'm proud to be living in dear Newfounland" It is a very touching and moving song. Any help would be appreciated. SOL ZELLER
