Thread Name: Oktoberfest Songbook- lyrics and notation
Subject: Review: Book of Oktoberfest Songs and Lore.New!
So....there I was in Houston, Texas at a Saengerbund Meeting social. We were singing traditional oktoberefest songs and drinking the appropriate beers.....I noticed a few younger folk spectators not singers.....They needed help.....We are after all a hymnal society. In order to learn by singing along training would take forever but with a book in their hands they could begin that moment. I combined that knowledge with the knowledge that the polish had won the war at least in our area. One can get good polish music but the German has suffered. Even at our large local German bier hall. So....I concluded we needed a hymnal of traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest songs. I searched high and low and even in the Library of congress. I did not want wein songs, rein songs or hafen songs. Just Bavarian Munich Oktoberfest songs. I finally got them together and many of the tunes as well and there you have it! An Oktoberfest hymnal! Another problem with Oktoberfests in the USA is that the food is often not right at all. So....I included recipes and some history of the Munich Oktoberfest with some illustrations....
It is now ready! Comes in a sturdy comb bound form with heavy covers.
Almost guaranteed to soak up a liter of bier.
