At that time, I used to frequent The Cap and Gown on Kings Road. It was great. I would get out at the bus station, smoke something nice as I passed Reading nick and then get to the pub in time to see Spredthick, Heron, Gerald and Josephine Moore,John James,Bully Wee, Paul Downes and Phil Beer, Bill Boazman, Mike Cooper, A Poke in the Eye, Richard Digance, Johnny Collins, or any one of the marvellous artists who appeared there. I also knew Liam Yapp and Tony Flood well, because they used to run the Downs and Outs Folk Club which took place at my father's pub, The Waterloo in Cholsey. It's possible that we attended the same gig at some time. Leadfingers and I agree that we probably met back then.
Sorry about the thread drift everyone else. I can recommend Simon and Hilary though - great musicians and really nice people.
