Conspicuously missing from Peter's list of show-ups is Big Mick. He never arrived, and many of us were worried about him. We thought he said the wrong thing at the border, and Homeland Security were 'interrogating' him someplace. We called his house, we called various other places including the police in Toronto AND his hometown in Michigan. We found out he'd been picked up and delivered to a hospital. Big Mick has joined the Coronary Club, but it sounds like a mild heart attack. We talked to him on the phone, and he sounded very good. I think we're all pretty glad he didn't decide to try to drive here anyway. We're glad he didn't try to follow Bill & Sue. We love him.

The night itself was absolutely amazing. People were jammed in like sardines, but warm, friendly sardines. The music was incredible, Mose's eulogy was heart-wrenching and hilarious, and had us nodding our heads, saying, "Yep, that was Rick!" Norm Hacking's second song, Peter T's recitation...just pure love and honesty. Pam's song, partly in Irish, and with bodhran, and so many other memorable moments.

I made it through my song, and people really got why I was up there. Rick would gently nudge people towards places they were afraid to go, because that's always where magic happens.

The sun is warm today, and there's a gentle breeze blowing. It's enough for a soul to sail on. Love...
