Sonnet 24/03/04                     DCCCXCVI

My muse returns, with spring within her eyes
To bring the blossoms, and new growth in heart.
She gives dreams reason to sing, and to prize
Each moment as chance that new hopes might start.
How shall I find words that might my mood share,
To show how much I need this hope? I seek
To reflect some of light, to show I care
For more than my desires: Dare my heart speak?
Her quiet glance shows all that I might want:
A friend, and muse, and love. What can heart add
To such a look? Can I find dreams to haunt
My soul, and let this lonely heart be glad?
She is still beyond reach, but might hearts touch,
To give my soul a chance to care too much?
