Subject: RE: BS: Ronald Reagan - Sadly Missed
This is America, where anyone, even an actor, has the same opportunity to become President as anyone else who was born here. If a musician were to run for President, would we be as condescending? The people obviously had enough faith in Reagan, and that's the only thing that matters. They are the ones who elected him. If you didn't like it, Too Bad. There weren't any voting scandals surrounding his elections, if I remember correctly, so no one can complain that he "stole" the elections. He won fair and square. And that's another thing that's really cool about this country.

I didn't vote for Reagan. I couldn't. I was too young to vote both times he ran. And knowing me, I probably would have voted Democrat at the time anyway. The first two times I voted for a President, I actually did vote for a Democrat. (That would be Dukakis, then Clinton, the first time he ran.) But again, let me say, I still respect the office of the President, even if I don't necessarily respect the office-holder.

For the love of all that's good, is it SO HARD for people to be DECENT to each other?

I'm reading a really good book by the Dalai Lama. It's called "An Open Heart - Practicing Compassion in Everyday Life." I recommend it highly.
