Thread Name: artist that sings The Water is Wide
Subject: RE: artist that sings The Water is Wide
The generally accepted version consists of three main verses then the first verse repeated at the end.

The water is wide, I can't cros o'er.
Nor have I wings, That I might fly.
Build me a boat, that can carry two,
and both shall row,My love and I.

A ship there is,and sails the sea.
She's loaded deep,As deep can be.
But not so deep,As the love I knew,
and I know not if,I'll sink or swim.

When love is young, and love is fine,
'Tis like a gem, when first its new.
But love grows old, and waxes cold,
And fades away, like the morning dew.

Then repeat first verse.

There are many additions can be arranged as the singer sees fit.....
